DESCRIPTION: Sexology

This program provides a comprehensive view of human sexuality. It covers, delicately and comprehensively, all relevant topics of sexology including aspects of sexual and therapeutic health: sexual communication, fantasy, masturbation, homosexuality, bisexuality, female and male sexuality, sexual enrichment, and pleasure. It explores a variety of sexual behavior; the treatment possibilities for sexual dysfunction; the need to protect ourselves from sexually transmitted diseases; how our sexual satisfaction can improve with age even as the body changes; and how can we help sexually harassed victims, etc.

DISTANCE LEARNING DEGREE PROGRAMS: Sexology

This module is applicable to Specialist, Expert, Bachelor's, Master's and Ph.D. (Doctor) Programs. This distance learning degree program is designed at the postgraduate level – Master’s or Doctoral. This module may be easily adapted to complete the Specialist, Expert or Bachelor’s adult degree program requirements. A further option is the enrollment into the online university courses listed in this module.

 

Specialist - Expert Diploma in Sexology (21 Academic Credits)
Select 5 courses for the online diploma of Specialist or 7 courses for the Expert Diploma from the total of 7 courses from this specialization module in Sexology.

 

Bachelor's Degree (B.A., B.S., B.B.A.) in Sexology (130 Academic Credits)
21 credits for 7 Specialization Courses in Sexologydistance learning higher education.
+ 60 credits in General Education may be transferred from previous education and experience for the completion of this distance learning degree.
+ 49 credits or 16 additional online university courses that may be selected from other modules in the Faculty of Psychology from Bircham International University. This selection must to be approved by the Distance Learning University Education Board.

 

Master's Degree (M.B.A., M.S., M.A.) in Sexology (35~50 Academic Credits)
21 credits for 7 Specialization Courses in Sexologydistance learning higher education.
+ 13 credits that correspond to research methodology and the Final Project.
+ Some additional online university courses may be selected from other modules in the Faculty of Psychology from Bircham International University if required. This selection must to be approved by the Distance Learning University Education Board.

 

Doctorate (Doctor Ph.D. Degree) in Sexology (45~70 Academic Credits)
21 credits for 7 Specialization Courses in Sexologydistance learning higher education.
+ 18 credits that correspond to research methodology and the Thesis.
+ Some additional online university courses may be selected from other modules in the Faculty of Psychology from Bircham International University if required. This selection must to be approved by the Distance Learning University Education Board.

 

 

 

METHOD OF INSTRUCTION: Distance Learning Higher Education

This program is delivered by traditional correspondence instruction. Bircham International University will send to your address the physical program suggested textbooks. You will be requested to write 20 to 35 pages reports about these books. You submit these reports by email or mail. The reports are the course exams. Bircham International University will evaluate your required written work. If passed, you will earn the degree from Bircham International University. LANGUAGE OF STUDY:

Book and report writing in other language than English must be requested (and approved by BIU) prior to enrollment into this distance learning degree program.

Human Sexuality

This course presents a comprehensive view of human sexuality and to the sexual attitude restructuring process. It covers topics such as endorsement, communication, fantasy, masturbation, homosexuality, bisexuality, desensitization and resensitization, female and male sexuality, sexual enrichment, special problems, therapy, and cultural expression. It overlooks how sex is shaped by culture from tribal to industrial societies.

Sexual Behavior

This course examines the development and expression of sexual behavior as a complex psychological, socio-cultural, biological, and historical phenomenon. It includes research methods in human sexuality; biological bases of sexual behavior; sexual arousal and response; gender identity and gender roles; attraction and love; sexual orientation; sexuality across the life cycle; sexual dysfunctions and sex therapy; safer sex and STD prevention; atypical sexual variations; sexual coercion, and sexual abuse and treatment.

Sexual Attitude Restructuring

This course presents an educational and experimental program for sex educators, therapists, and counselors. Sexual attitude restructuring focuses on the use of new methodologies including the use of media, massage, psychodrama, exercises, fantasy, personal development, body awareness, communication skills. It explains why the sexual attitude restructuring process works and teaches how to run a sex workshop.

Sexology / Sex Therapy

This course examines the historical as well as the currents methods and procedures of sex therapy. In order to provide an eclectic approach to sex therapy, this course investigates different philosophies of sex therapy; how they were developed, the rationale for their use, their implementation strategies, and the assessment of their effectiveness.

Marriage & Family Relations

This course examines the impact of modern society upon the family as it relates to courtship, size of family, member relationships, economic problems, and marital stability. It compares alternative life styles, marriage, and family relations throughout the life span. It examines family development across generations.

Senses Awareness & Development

This course examines the connection between the senses, the body, and the mind that lead to the development of self-awareness. It investigates various techniques that allow the perception of internal forces and their direction to acquire more body control and internal energy flow. It describes how to develop personal senses to enhance self-perception and become a better therapist.

Sexual Pleasure Education

This course presents strategies for improved sex life, sex aids, sexual approaches, and male and female pleasuring. It stresses the value of various body work techniques for persons intending to work in the field of sex therapy and counseling. It also includes a sexological exploration of objects which have been created in response to sexual desire and experience.
