THE BIU TRANSCRIPT
The online diploma and transcript are always issued in English.

Bircham International University adult degree programs merge the best of the two leading higher education systems of the world: Europe and the United States of America. BIU distance learning degree programs follows the current higher education guidelines set forth by the European Union (European Credit Transfer System [ECTS]) as well as the USA (Generally Accepted Accrediting Practices [GAAP]). All BIU online university degrees are signed by a Doctor from a formal traditional university, the President and Registrar of the University. The BIU online diploma and transcript do not specify distance learning information. In addition to the diploma and transcript BIU issues a diploma supplement and a certificate of evaluation of all the textbooks studied and work completed (reports, project or thesis).


1 BIU ACADEMIC CREDIT = 15 hours of notional learning = 30 hours of study
Credit composition is the following:
  • 40% - Reading & comprehension
  • 30% - Data organization & writing
  • 20% - Review & formatting. Examples, case studies, etc.
  • 10% - Conclusion & opinion. Critical thinking.

Degree program credit composition includes:
  • TRANS - Credits transferred from other institutions.
  • CFLEX - Credits validated from professional experience.
  • CIC - Credits earned at BIU.
  • TRANS - TRANSFERRED CREDITS
The BIU transcript clearly shows the total amount of credits accepted from other educational institutions. Transferred credits are identified with "TRANS" Code and followed by a one line description of the major and the name of the awarding institution. A minimum of 30% of the total number of credits required by any adult degree program must be transferred from previous education and/or validated from professional experience in order to gain the admission.

  • CFLEX - CREDIT FOR LIFE & PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
The university recognizes knowledge and skills through different work and life experiences or independent learning which may be equivalent to some online university courses or general education credits. The transcript will show the total amount of credits granted from prior knowledge and experience up to a maximum of 20% of the total credits required to complete any degree program. These credits are identified with "CFLEX" Code.

  • CIC - COURSE IDENTIFICATION CODE for BIU earned credits
CIC = 3 numbers + 3 letters code + course title.
Example: 301TEM Technology Management


100 numbers stand for General Education courses.
200 numbers stand for General Education courses.
300 numbers stand for Bachelor's, Specialist & Expert courses.
400 numbers stand for Bachelor's courses.
500 numbers stand for Master's courses.
600 numbers stand for Doctorate courses.
700 numbers stand for Doctorate courses.

BIU courses account for 3 BIU academic credits.
