MODULE: Multimedia Design
Program delivered by distance learning higher education up to a maximum of 42 credits. This module may be combined or completed with other online university courses from this faculty.
DESCRIPTION:
This program is designed to provide students with knowledge and skills necessary to qualify in the multimedia and graphic design profession which emphasizes design, advertising, illustration, and digital and multimedia preparation of printed and electronic promotional materials. Students will be trained in the development of concept and design for promotional, printed and electronic media materials.

This module is applicable to Specialist, Expert, Bachelor's, Master's and Ph.D. (Doctor) Programs. This distance learning degree program is designed at the postgraduate level – Master’s or Doctoral. This module may be easily adapted to complete the Specialist, Expert or Bachelor’s adult degree program requirements. A further option is the enrollment into the online university courses listed in this module.
* University Course (3 credits): Select 1 subject from this module.
* Specialist Diploma (15 credits): First 5 subjects or select 5 subjects from this module.
* Expert Diploma (21 credits): First 7 subjects or select 7 subjects from this module.
* Bachelor's Degree (130 credits): The Admission certificate issued after submission of the application for admission will show the amount of credit transferred and validated from previous education and experience, and the amount of credits required to complete this undergraduate program's major. Additional courses from other modules of this faculty will be assigned in case that the credits displayed on this module are not enough to complete the bachelor's required credits.
* Master's Degree (35 credits): Select from 3 to 9 subjects from this module depending on the amount of credits transferred from previous education and experience. Add 13 credits corresponding to a final project to the selected subjects.
* Ph.D. (Doctor) (45 credits): Select from 3 to 9 subjects from this module depending on the amount of credits transferred from previous education and experience. Add 18 credits corresponding to a final thesis to the selected subjects.
BIU issues an admission certificate after receiving your complete application for admission. This document will show the amount of credits transferred and validated from previous education and experience, and the amount of credits required to complete the degree program's major. BIU can not perform this evaluation without the complete application for admission.

Web Design & Programming
This course evaluates web design tools, discusses technology standards and programming, and explores incompatibility issues surrounding current browsers, design software and programming. It teaches the competencies necessary for designing, developing, publishing, and hosting multimedia web sites. It includes various tools for web design and the development of e-commerce sites, shopping carts and payment methods.

Creativity
This course presents the principles of the creative function. It examines the process of idea generation through different techniques such association, brainstorming, sense connecting, closures, opposites, verbal plays, clocks and calendars, personalization's and so on. It shows how to discipline thoughts and ideas according to the creative strategy and communication goals.

Copy, Layout & Design
This course explores the principles and processes of effective writing with particular emphasis on the structure and form of persuasive writing. It shows how to use copywriting and design techniques in various forms in advertising, and how to recognize what makes one design right and another design wrong. It shows the difference between designs that are trendy, sophisticated, youthful, classic, aggressive, contemporary, or with mass market appeal.

Art Direction
This course explores the role of the art director in leading the design effort of graphic artists, illustrators, photographers and production firms. It covers the design, production and budgeting of advertising for a variety of media including magazine, newspaper and direct mail, television and the Internet. It critically evaluates typography, line, color, texture, size, sound and space, in designing.

Visual & Graphic Design
This course reviews the history of graphic design to its evolution into the new media age. It shows how to create clear, intelligent and powerful graphic communication for any graphic media. It reviews design techniques, visual thinking, visual persuasion, concept development, composition & typography. It is aimed to develop your own personal visual & graphic design style and vision.

Logo & Packaging Design
This course covers corporate, logo and packaging design to develop market differentiation and identity. It shows how to create a logo and presentation that will strengthen the visual image, branding and identity of a client, company, a product or service.

Digital Media Production
This course examines the use of multimedia material (audio, MIDI, graphics and video) from a production point of view. It explains how to undertake a digital multimedia production and the manipulation tasks to create or modify a multimedia project.

This course reviews online business and economy environment and strategies. It provides solutions for the online purchasing and selling of different products and services. It explains how to do business electronically, considers electronic commerce hardware and software requirements, and legal issues regarding Internet usage.

Internet Ethics & Legal Issues
This course deals with the cyberculture and the policies that are currently being discussed to ensure proper conduct on the Web. It provides readings and web references on various ethical and legal issues that are shaping the future of our cybersociety. It also provides an enhanced appreciation of the legal issues which affect the development of E-commerce.

This course promotes an appreciation of the use of the Web and multimedia for effective communication. It examines both the technology and thinking behind using multimedia resources to enhance the communication process. It explains the business use and development procedures involved in incorporating multimedia into communications.

Visual Arts
This course examines how visual arts have been influenced by, and how they have influenced, interacted with, defined, and been defined by other media, arts, technology and cultural trends. It examines how visual arts have moved from a marginal to a mainstream art form. It explores the nature of visual perception in everyday life, and how the elements of visual imagery may combine to deliver a persuasive message.

Artistic Design
This course is a philosophical examination of artistic creation and design. It discusses the impact of arts on everyday life, and evaluates different design styles, approaches and interpretations. It also addresses the problems encountered by design artists including the idea of talent, the artist's personality, and creative blocks, and shows creative tools and inspirational resources for the artistic designer.

Audiovisual Communication
This course addresses ongoing changes in audiovisual communications and new developments in mass communications theory. It explores the key elements of audiovisual messages creation and production with current examples from broadcasting, television, film, Internet and multimedia.
