Courses Description (each subject accounts for 3 credits):
Natural Health Science
The philosophy of natural health sciences recognizes that when good conditions for health exist, healing will prevail. Traditional water therapies, herbs, physical therapy and nutrition when properly utilized, can facilitate the self-healing process within the body. This course describes how to recognize underlying root-causes of illness and the principles governing natural health and healing.
Instructor: Ruben Von Stopeck

It also explains how to differentiate whole food supplements versus synthetic supplements.
Instructor: Leonie van Heerden
Diets & Fasting
This course provides an analysis and evaluation of various dietary regimes focusing on nutritional, spiritual and social belief systems concerning food: Vegetarianism, macrobiotics, raw food, food combining, and hereditary predisposition. It explains the benefits of fasting and different approaches to tissue cleansing and detoxification. It finally considers mental, emotional, physical and spiritual issues concerning diets and fasting.
Instructor: Leonie van Heerden
Hydrotherapy
This course explains the application of water treatments to reinforce the therapeutic process and the physiological effects of hot and cold as applied to illness and injury. It describes several spa and hydrotherapy treatments including ice therapy, hydrotherapy tub/whirlpool, alternate hot and cold therapies, vichy shower, mud treatments, and fomentation. It also considers water treatments combined with aromatherapy through the use of different inhaled essences.
Instructor: Stefan Batran
Medicinal Plants
This course describes plant botany and plant identification. It covers harvesting, drying techniques, and the preparation of dry and fresh botanical tinctures, salves and others. It provides a detailed survey of plants and plant preparations used in naturopathic practice, integrating traditional herbal knowledge with modern pharmacological research.
Instructor: Ruben Von Stopeck
Case Taking & Analysis
Receiving detailed information from a client is essential to the practice of any therapeutical approach. This course covers the art of case taking: observation and contact skills, methods of communication, questioning, facilitating information and the use of specific recording techniques. It explains how to look deeply into a person's unique symptom picture and cross referencing this with the corresponding therapeutical approach.
Instructor: Alfredo Fernandez Blanco
Human Biology
This course explains the development of cells, tissues, organs, and organ systems integrating molecular biology, genetics, ecology, evolution, and diversity. It covers topics in biology of particular relevance to humans and to human health and disease and describes how the organism is maintained and repaired.
Instructor: Daniel Scott Janik
Human Anatomy & Physiology
This course describes the gross and microscopic structure of each system of the human body and the integration of these systems within the entire body. It explains the organization and function of the human body as a whole and the interrelationships of its various systems.
Instructor: Alfredo Fernandez Blanco
Immunology
This course presents the immune system, including its structure, components, mechanisms, immunological methods, immune response, and inflammation. Clinical immunology will be emphasized, including hypersensitivity, atopy, autoimmunity, and immunodeficiency disorders.
Instructor: Daniel Scott Janik
Physical Therapy
This course provides a comprehensive knowledge of physical therapy for treatment of injuries, bodily weaknesses and defects through physical remedies such as massage, exercise, gymnastics, light, heat, cold, water and mechanical devices.
