This course describes how to recognize underlying root-causes of illness and the principles governing natural health and healing.

Holistic Nutrition
This course explores the role of nutrition and diet in promoting a healthy mind, body, and spirit; preventing diseases; and maintaining wellness. It also discusses the interdependence between eating choices and environmental sustainability and the principles and practical uses of various alternative nutritional approaches. It also teaches how to differentiate between whole food and synthetic supplements.

Diets & Fasting
This course provides an analysis and evaluation of various dietary regimes. It focuses on the nutritional, spiritual, and social aspects of food beliefs: Vegetarianism, macrobiotics, raw food, food combining, and hereditary predisposition. It explains the benefits of fasting and the different approaches used to ensure tissue cleansing and detoxification. It finally considers the mental, emotional, physical, and spiritual issues related to diets and fasting.

Medicinal Plants
This course describes plant botany and plant identification. It covers harvesting, drying techniques, and the preparation of dry and fresh botanical tinctures, salves, and others. It provides a detailed survey of plants and plant preparations used in naturopathic practice while integrating traditional herbal knowledge with modern pharmacological research.

Case Taking & Analysis
All therapeutical approaches require accurate client's information. This course investigates the basics of developing a patients' case study namely: observation and contact, methods of communication, questioning and obtaining information, and the use of archive. It explains how to look deeply at a person's unique symptoms and assign the corresponding therapeutical approach.

Physical Therapy
This course comprehensively explores the use of physical therapy for treating body injuries, weaknesses, and defects. It stresses on various techniques such as massage, exercise and gymnastics in addition to the use of light, heat, cold water, and mechanical devices. It highlights the physiological benefits of exercise in correcting structural imbalances and the value of stretching, deep breathing, yoga, aerobic, and non-aerobic activities for maintaining optimum health.

Oligotherapy
This course explains how to administer precise amounts of oligo elements to treat different health disorders. Hydrotherapy
This course explains the application of water treatments (hot and cold) to reinforce its therapeutic and physiological effects in the treatments of illness and injury. It describes several spa and hydrotherapy treatments including ice therapy, hydrotherapy tub/whirlpool, alternate hot and cold therapies, vichy shower, mud treatments, and fomentation. It also considers water treatments combined with aromatherapy through the use of different inhaled essences.

Biochemical Organic Balance
Every disease, symptom, discharge, and pain indicates a chemical imbalance in the body. A body that is chemically well-balanced will normalize itself. This course focuses on the chemical elements, their structures, and their application, including vitamins, enzymes, proteins, starches, prostaglandins, and minerals found in foods in order to understand the biochemical organic balance from which health and well-being spring.

This course discusses the development of cells, tissues, organs, and organ systems while integrating molecular biology, genetics, ecology, evolution, and diversity. Herbology & Phytotherapy

This distance learning education program is completed by a traditional correspondence instruction method. Once you sign up for the course, Bircham International University will send you (to your mailing address) the suggested textbooks. After reading the book, you will be asked to write a 20 to 35 pages report that reflect your understanding of the book. This report is equivalent to the exam and can be submitted by email or mail. Bircham International University will evaluate your written work. If passed, BIU will issue the corresponding diploma.
