This program investigates the concepts, design, and operations of control system's elements and instrumentation. It portrays how these elements and instruments affect the overall system operation and tuning. It covers modern approaches to networked and distributed control systems, and discusses both analog and digital signal instruments along with thermal, mechanical, and optical sensors; final control, and several other controller principles and instruments.

This distance learning education program is completed by a traditional correspondence instruction method. Once you sign up for the course, Bircham International University will send you (to your mailing address) the suggested textbooks. After reading the book, you will be asked to write a 20 to 35 pages report that reflect your understanding of the book. This report is equivalent to the exam and can be submitted by email or mail. Bircham International University will evaluate your written work. If passed, BIU will issue the corresponding diploma. Students enrolling into this distance education program should be aware that:
1. Location: Bircham International University needs a functional geographical location to ship the book and materials for successful completion of this program of study.
2. Communication: Email, courier, phone are key communication instruments with Bircham University that play an important role in the progress and support of this program of study.
3. Capacity: Any impediment, physical or psychological, to read a book and write a report must be communicated to Bircham International University prior to enrollment into this distance learning program.

Duration - Process Instrumentation Technology Online via distance learning

For a program of 21 credits, the estimated time for completion is 21 weeks. For 45 credits, the estimated time for completion will be 45 weeks, and so on. Calculations are approximate. The length of each distance learning degree program is calculated based on an average of 15 hours of learning per week. It also depends on the number of validated credits from previous knowledge and the level of commitment to the studies.

This course studies the systems development cycle for best planning, feasibility of the project, staffing, and scheduling. It investigates current business systems and their problems, the definition of business needs and requirements, and the evaluation of alternative solutions. It shows how a company organizes itself to use data processing equipment more effectively.

Systems Implementation
This course deals with the general and detailed specification of a computer-based solution that was selected during systems analysis. Included in the design specifications are the programming specifications. Systems implementation is placing the system into operation and how to use systems tools in each phase of the systems development cycle.

Manufacturing Systems Integration
This course explains the need for the integration of manufacturing systems and deals with the multitude of their practical problems. The engineering details covered include the types of communication links available between systems, communication standards, and hardware platform alternatives. The management concepts discussed are namely the top-down design/bottom-up implementation approach to system integration, long-range planning and management of integration projects, security issues, and human factors.

Innovation Management
This course presents the methods for transforming organizations to create innovation. It covers diagnosis of opportunities for innovation and development, intervention activities, and implementation strategies. It examines problems and issues in integrating technology and innovation into processes and products, management of research and development (R&D); and new product and/or process development according to customer needs.

This course highlights solutions for integrating software and hardware. It studies the integrated engineering of hardware-software systems considering software design, testing, documentation, maintenance, debugging, version control, and software portability and reusability.

This course examines the dynamic models of continuous systems, transfer functions, and block diagrams. It considers response characteristics and diverse systems performance specifications.

It considers the impact of the deployment of information technology on firms and the changes in work patterns and management processes. This course presents an evolutionary process perspective on technology strategy, automation, and innovation. It covers managing innovation, technology life cycles, forecasting, and managing R&D, personnel, and projects. It also covers current methods, tools, and associated equipment used for current industrial automated processes.

Process Improvement Management
This course focuses on the technical and teaming skills necessary to achieve quality-processes. Topics include: understanding quality, the improvement cycle, quality tools, eliminating complexity from work, and implementing quality in processes, activities, and organizations. It also covers statistical process control and methods employed in the assurance of product conformance to quality specifications. It provides an analytical approach to solving problems in quality engineering process design and costs.

This course covers the elements of an effective asset maintenance strategy within an industrial organization. It considers the organizational contexts associated with operations, production, and maintenance strategy.

This course deals with process technology's troubleshooting. It utilizes both simple and complex approaches and covers troubleshooting models that apply concepts from instrumentation, control loop, and process equipment and systems. Each of these systems have operational information, set points, and start-up procedures. It includes many process technology troubleshooting "what-if" scenarios.

This course reviews the latest methods used to increase process efficiency, production rate, and quality using instrumentation and process technology improvement. It explores process instrument and control assignments to efficiently resolve common industry problems. Bircham International University issues an admission certificate after receiving your complete application for admission. This document will show the amount of credits transferred and validated from previous education and experience, and the amount of credits required to complete the distance learning degree program's major.
