This course provides students with the knowledge and skills necessary for success in modern computer-based business environments. Students learn hardware and software functions to solve problems commonly found in business, database management, customer relations, and decision making.
Academic Supervisor: Kenneth K. Pembamoto

Computation & Data Structure
This course explains data structures and algorithms in computer science. It includes recursion, sequential, linked and dynamic allocation of storage, stacks, queues, trees, graphs, hash tables, as well as internal and external sorting and searching. Emphasis is placed on the design, implementation, and evaluation of algorithms.
Academic Supervisor: Kenneth K. Pembamoto

Data Science
This course of data science uses scientific methods, processes, algorithms and systems to extract knowledge and insights from data. It analyzes the process of collecting, transforming, cleaning, and modeling data with the goal of discovering the required information. Data science is related to data mining, machine learning and big data.
Academic Supervisor: Alex Vuginshteyn

Molecular Biology
This course reviews the principles of molecular biology, including the biochemistry and molecular biology of nucleic acids; the Central Dogma; DNA, RNA, and protein synthesis; mutation and repair; recombination and transposition; the genetic code; the turning on and off of genes; and RNA and ribozymes splicing and development.
Academic Supervisor: Girish Kumar Srivastava

Genomics
This course provides an analysis of genes and genomes, their function, transmission, mutation, and evolution, with examples from animals, plants, bacteria, and fungi. It discusses classical and current methods of gene and genome analysis, including genetic, molecular, quantitative, and bioinformatic approaches.
Academic Supervisor: Enrique Parra Crego

Molecular Genetics
This course studies the nature, replication, regulation, and mode of action of genetic material. It details the classical transmission genetics and modern molecular genetics, including current observations and concepts of the nature, organization, function, and regulation of the expression of genetic material.
Academic Supervisor: Girish Kumar Srivastava

Molecular Cell Biology
This course examines the organization and functioning of cells and cellular organelles at the molecular level, their processes, and their regulation. It stresses on the experimental approaches and structural/functional relationships in the cell.
Academic Supervisor: Girish Kumar Srivastava

Data Analysis
This course of data analysis examines the analytical and logical reasoning to gain information from the data. The main purpose of data analysis is to find meaning in data so that the derived knowledge can be used to make informed decisions. It involves the interpretation of data to determine patterns, relationships or trends. Data analysis is the most crucial part of any research.
Academic Supervisor: Alex Vuginshteyn

Numerical Optimization
This course deals with methods of solving optimization problems in finitely many variables, with or without constraints, sequential optimization problems involving random variables, control of uncertain dynamic systems, risk, feedback, and adaptivity.
Academic Supervisor: Leon Fidele Ruganzu Uwimbabazi

Applied Statistics
This course reviews the applicability and certainty of statistical tools, random variables analysis, and probability, and how they may be used in decision theory, and to estimate risk and uncertainty.
Academic Supervisor: Alex Vuginshteyn

Bioinformatics
This course of bioinformatics encompasses all aspects of biological information acquisition, processing, storage, distribution, analysis and interpretation that combines the tools of mathematics, computer science and biology with the aim of understanding the biological significance of a variety of data. It has been mostly applied to the mapping and interpretation of genome sequence data.
Academic Supervisor: Jorge Poveda Arias

Scientific Research
This course of scientific research explains the main steps for conducting an investigation according to the scientific method: Make an observation, ask a question, form a hypothesis, or testable explanation, make a prediction based on the hypothesis, test the prediction, and use the results to make new hypotheses or predictions.
