Dream Studies & Oneirology via distance learning

This program of oneirology deals with the scientific study of dreams. A dream is a succession of images, ideas, emotions, and sensations that usually occur involuntarily in the mind during certain stages of sleep. The content and purpose of dreams are not fully understood, although they have been a topic of scientific, philosophical and religious interest. Dream studies seek an understanding of how the brain works during dreaming, the correlation between dreaming and the functions of the brain, and the different stages and types of dream.

Hypnosis & Suggestion
This course explores the history of hypnosis, trance induction, levels of trance, deepening techniques, post-hypnotic suggestion, rapport, pre-induction interview, and goal-setting. It describes the use of suggestion for rapid personal change, physical and emotional healing, creativity, and spiritual growth.
Academic Supervisor: Susana Merino Lorente

Consciousness Studies
This course of consciousness studies builds a bridge between science and religion in order to assess that there is much more to human life than can be seen at the level of neurons. Consciousness may be defined as the perception of something of internal or external existence. This course reviews different perspectives of the nature of consciousness and why consciousness is not a simple problem to deal with.
Academic Supervisor: Radwani Houda

Cellular Neurobiology
This course discusses the physical principles underlying the cellular processes of neurobiology. It covers topics such as the principles of brain organization, the structure of neurons, neurophysiology and biophysics of cells, synaptic transmission, neurotransmitter systems and neurochemistry, neuropharmacology, neuroendocrine relations, and molecular biology of neurons.
Academic Supervisor: Radwani Houda

Human Consciousness
This course examines the human consciousness. The brain appears to be a complicated organ that register and channel consciousness rather than produce it. Consciousness, the subjective experience of an inner self; could be a phenomenon forever beyond the reach of neuroscience. Even a detailed knowledge of the brain's workings and the neural correlation of consciousness may fail to explain how or why human beings have self-aware minds.
Academic Supervisor: Román Gonzalvo Pérez

Extrasensory Experiences
This course argues that despite the absence of scientific proves of extrasensory experiences, there are strong convergent arguments in their favor. Human consciousness can exist independent of brain-activity. Widely reported supernatural abilities and extrasensory experiences cannot be attributed to the mere functioning of the physical brain.
Academic Supervisor: Román Gonzalvo Pérez

Dream Studies
This course of dream studies explores what dreams are and how they are produced. Dreams mainly occur in the rapid-eye movement (REM) stage of sleep, when brain activity is high and resembles that of being awake. Dreams may occur during other stages of sleep. There are different stages and types of dream that are also associated with the different brain waves.
Academic Supervisor: Frances Chelos Lopez

Lucid Dreaming
This course of lucid dreaming studies the dreams during which the dreamer is aware that they are dreaming. During a lucid dream, the dreamer may gain some amount of control over the dream characters, narrative, and environment. Lucid dreaming typically happens during rapid eye movement (REM) sleep, but it may also be triggered by mediation, day dreaming and visualization techniques.
Academic Supervisor: Susana Merino Lorente

Neural & Brain Science
The juncture of biology and psychology, of brain and behavior... This course provides a comprehensive coverage, from the molecular level right up to human conscious experience, of the relationship between the structural and the physiological mechanisms of the brain and of the nervous system with the psychological reality of the mind.
Academic Supervisor: Radwani Houda

States of Consciousness
This course focuses on waking up, sleeping, and dreaming as examples of conscious states from the perspectives of neurology, physiology, psychology, and cognitive neuroscience. It reviews the major models of consciousness philosophy and provides a detailed examination of attention.
Academic Supervisor: Frances Chelos Lopez

Neurobiochemistry
This course exposes the current questions and experimental approaches in cellular neuroscience and neurochemistry. It is organized into three areas: the cell and biochemical structure and organization of the nervous system; the biochemical mechanisms underlying neural signaling and plasticity; and the control of cell form and its chemical developmental determinants.
Academic Supervisor: Radwani Houda

Oneirology
This course of oneirology study the stories and images that our minds create while we sleep and that are called dreams. Dreams can be entertaining, fun, romantic, disturbing, frightening, and sometimes bizarre. Oneirology aims to understand the process of dreaming rather than analyzing the meaning or interpretation of dreams.

Academic Supervisor: Frances Chelos Lopez

Therapeutic Trance States
This course reviews various states of consciousness and their effects on therapeutic experience. These states include hypnosis, sleep, dreaming, lucid dreaming, meditation, and psychedelic experiences.
Academic Supervisor: Román Gonzalvo Pérez
