Gestalt Therapy via distance learning

Gestalt Therapy is a phenomenological-existential psychotherapy founded in 1940 by Frederick and Laura Perls and subsequently developed by others. Gestalt therapy is a process-orientated psychotherapy that focuses more on what is happening (process) than on what is being discussed (content). More importance is given to what is being experienced at each moment than what happened and/or should have happened. In the Gestalt psychotherapy, both the therapist and the client communicate. The difference in their perspectives opens the door for further experimentation and dialogue. The goal is for the client to become aware of his actions (what he is doing and how he is doing it) and his being (how he can change himself and how to appraise and accept it).

Senses Awareness & Development
This course examines the connection between the senses, the body, and the mind that lead to the development of self-awareness. It investigates various techniques that allow the perception of internal forces and their direction to acquire more body control and internal energy flow. It describes how to develop personal senses to enhance self-perception and become a better therapist.
Academic Supervisor: Radwani Houda

Gestalt Nature of Change
The Gestalt theory of change claims that change occurs when a person becomes what he truly is and not what he intends or tries to be. Change does not take place through coercion but rather when a person takes the time and effort to become who he is. When awareness of what a person is does not emerge, Gestalt psychotherapy is one way of increasing awareness, choice, and responsibly.
Academic Supervisor: Grigoriy Kononenko

Gestalt Dialogue
This course explains the importance of dialogue as a central methodology in Gestalt therapy. The rational is that a person exists by differentiating and connecting his "self" from others. The contact a person's establishes with others and his environment involves the risk of reaching out and discovering one's own boundaries. Gestalt therapists treat patients using dialogue rather than therapeutic manipulation.
Academic Supervisor: Grigoriy Kononenko

Gestalt Present Awareness
The first things that present themselves to a patient's awareness are what he is experiencing "now" and not something from his past (Childhood). 'Now' starts with the present awareness of the patient. Prior events may be the object of present awareness but the awareness process is here and now. 'Now' is the only moment a human being is able to directly control. We have no power to change the past and we can only guess the future.
Academic Supervisor: Grigoriy Kononenko

Gestalt Psychotherapy
This course teaches therapists and patients the phenomenological methods of awareness in which perceiving, feeling, and acting are distinguished from interpreting and rearranging preexisting attitudes, values, and opinions. What is directly perceived and felt is considered more reliable than what is explained and/or interpreted.
Academic Supervisor: Grigoriy Kononenko

Gestalt Therapy
A Gestalt therapist seeks to explore behavior rather than directly modifies it. The aim is growth and autonomy through increased awareness. Therapy focuses on patients using a horizontal therapeutic relationship. The Gestalt therapist is responsible for the quality and quantity of his presence and for maintaining a non-defensive posture.
Academic Supervisor: Grigoriy Kononenko

Therapeutic Practice
This course covers the basics of law and ethics as they apply to health and counseling-related practice. Informed consent, confidentiality, licensing laws, regulations and customs, and professional liability are considered.
Academic Supervisor: Frances Chelos Lopez
