METHOD OF INSTRUCTION: Distance Learning Higher Education

 

This distance learning education program is completed by a traditional correspondence instruction method. Once you sign up for the course, Bircham International University will send you (to your mailing address) the suggested textbooks. After reading the book, you will be asked to write a 20 to 35 pages report that reflect your understanding of the book. This report is equivalent to the exam and can be submitted by email or mail. Bircham International University will evaluate your written work. If passed, BIU will issue the corresponding diploma. Students enrolling into this distance education program should be aware that:
1. Location: Bircham International University needs a functional geographical location to ship the book and materials for successful completion of this program of study.
2. Communication: Email, courier, phone are key communication instruments with Bircham University that play an important role in the progress and support of this program of study.
3. Capacity: Any impediment, physical or psychological, to read a book and write a report must be communicated to Bircham International University prior to enrollment into this distance learning program.
4. Technology: No specific technology is required to complete this distance education program.
5. Language: Book reading and report writing in other language than English must be requested (and approved by BIU) prior to enrollment in any distance learning program.

Duration - CSR Corporate Social Responsibility Online via distance learning

For a program of 21 credits, the estimated time for completion is 21 weeks. For 45 credits, the estimated time for completion will be 45 weeks, and so on. Calculations are approximate. The length of each distance learning degree program is calculated based on an average of 15 hours of learning per week. It also depends on the number of validated credits from previous knowledge and the level of commitment to the studies.

This course describes and evaluates various strategies that attempt to explain individuals' and groups' reaction to media. It explores the theories of media influence and public attitude change. It explains what it means (politically, economically, culturally, and morally) to live in a culture in which a major portion of information comes to the citizen through multiple channels of mass communication.

This course analyses the nature and impact of economic/political/social ideologies in addition to the forces that shaped the evolution of western and other civilizations' responses to the poor, unemployed, sick and disabled, displaced, children-and-families-at-risk, widows and orphans, and racial/ethnic minorities.

Mass Communications
This course examines the historical and contemporary theories of mass media and communication. It addresses the nature, functions, and responsibilities of the mass communication industries in a global environment and emphasizes on media's roles in society. It also explores mass media organizations policies, legal, ethical, and censorship concerns.

This course examines communication processes in organizations. It analyzes oral and written communication, intercultural communication, interviewing techniques, negotiating skills, conflict management, and technologically mediated communication. This course deals with the sociological factors involved in the development and evolution of society and community. It explains how to deal with economic, health, and social problems, and considers cross cultural social perspectives and diversity in all its forms. It deals with the process of managing and integrating the experience and trajectory of a community towards a new and better global welfare.

Cross Cultural Social Perspectives
This course studies the similarities and differences of cultures. It teaches students the skills of communication, negotiation, and managing cultural differences. It provides a cross cultural social perspective to deal effectively with individuals from varied cultures in different situations.

This course examines the key issues of cultural resource management. Topics include the role in environmental permitting, inventory and significance evaluation of resources, project impacts and design of mitigation measures, consultation with government agencies and tribal organizations, and related issues in museum management.

This course explores the theory and practice of public relations within the realm of marketing and integrated communication strategies. Philosophy of Ethics & Law
This course investigates the philosophical problems of the social and political interaction, including ideology, law, and ethics. It explores normative ethical theories that attempt to say what we ought to do and the relations between legal rules and the rules of ethics and custom. It studies the social and ethical foundation of law and legitimacy and the limits of law and the state. It also explores moral reasoning and how rigorous an ethical position can be applied to real-life experiences.

Communication Effectiveness
This course covers research procedures and theories designed to determine the effectiveness of mass communication processes; taking into account clients, media, and agencies. It covers research before and after the communication runs, and evaluates the levels of persuasion achieved. A good research helps design an effective communication to develop brand awareness, image, distinctiveness, encourage buying behavior, and/or reinforce satisfaction.

This course combines all of the areas concerned with the operational analysis of a special event namely executive management, marketing, personnel, cost controls, etc. It examines the event organization as a total system, with emphasis on strategic planning, operational design, and problem forecasting and solution.

You may download this application form from our website or request it by email or mail. Please send this application and enclosed documents to the corresponding BIU Office. * Include any additional program proposal, scholarship request, etc. (optional).

 

Bircham International University issues an admission certificate after receiving your complete application for admission. This document will show the amount of credits transferred and validated from previous education and experience, and the amount of credits required to complete the distance learning degree program's major.
