Modern methods of transportation enable growing numbers of people to travel everywhere in the world. Tourism will be the largest industry in the world. This program reviews the management, marketing, and financial issues relevant to the tourist industry. It covers different touristic segments namely transportation, accommodation, food and beverages, entertainment, destinations; and the economic, political, environmental, and social effects that regional tourism leaves. It also provides current information on the skills required by travel agents.

METHOD OF INSTRUCTION: Distance Learning Higher Education

 

This distance learning education program is completed by a traditional correspondence instruction method. Once you sign up for the course, Bircham International University will send you (to your mailing address) the suggested textbooks. After reading the book, you will be asked to write a 20 to 35 pages report that reflect your understanding of the book. This report is equivalent to the exam and can be submitted by email or mail. Bircham International University will evaluate your written work. If passed, BIU will issue the corresponding diploma. Students enrolling into this distance education program should be aware that:
1. Location: Bircham International University needs a functional geographical location to ship the book and materials for successful completion of this program of study.
2. Communication: Email, courier, phone are key communication instruments with Bircham University that play an important role in the progress and support of this program of study.
3. Capacity: Any impediment, physical or psychological, to read a book and write a report must be communicated to Bircham International University prior to enrollment into this distance learning program.
4. Technology: No specific technology is required to complete this distance education program.

Duration - Tourism & Leisure Industry Online via distance learning

For a program of 21 credits, the estimated time for completion is 21 weeks. For 45 credits, the estimated time for completion will be 45 weeks, and so on. Calculations are approximate. The length of each distance learning degree program is calculated based on an average of 15 hours of learning per week. It also depends on the number of validated credits from previous knowledge and the level of commitment to the studies.

This course studies the conceptual and operational aspects of the tourism industry from a variety of perspectives including motivations for travel, social and economic impact, product development, market analysis, and future trends. It examines the major subsystems within the visitor industry- travel agencies, airlines, hotels, tour operators, leisure activities, restaurants, and entertainment organizations.

This course deals with the business principles associated with developing and managing tourism-based business and commercial recreation. It includes entrepreneurship, product development, marketing, promotional activities, and financial analysis. It also identifies the human and physical resources required to undertake recreational activities.

Leisure & Recreation
This course provides a social, cultural, and economic examination of the impact tourism, leisure, and recreation. It covers issues such as changes in the quality of life of tourist-destinations residents, the social and cultural impacts of tourism, gender relations and sexuality, crime and international security issues, and the economic and political impacts of the hospitality and tourism industry development.

This course studies the legal aspects that relate to the operation of tourism both domestic and international. It also covers the legal environment in which a tourism or a hospitality management organization functions. It examines the numerous issues that a community must consider in establishing a successful tourism industry. These include the selection of appropriate types of tourism for a community, the identification and utilization of necessary resources, and the regulation of tourism.

This course examines the innovative and dynamic environment of international tourism marketing. It discusses the nuances of tourism products and services for the development of distinctive marketing approaches and promotional strategies. It reviews the various techniques utilized to conduct tourism research and the analysis and application of their findings in order to formulate effective marketing plans and remain competitive in the international market place.

This course is a theoretical and applied study of the interactions between groups' individuals in recreational and tourist settings. You may download this application form from our website or request it by email or mail. Please send this application and enclosed documents to the corresponding BIU Office and allow ten business days for processing. You may also submit this application and attached documents by email in PDF Format.

* Include any additional program proposal, scholarship request, etc. (optional).

 

Bircham International University issues an admission certificate after receiving your complete application for admission. This document will show the amount of credits transferred and validated from previous education and experience, and the amount of credits required to complete the distance learning degree program's major. Bircham University can not perform this evaluation without the complete application for admission.
